My friends and I, left Nairobi on 3rd June headed for Aberdare National Park. It took us about two and half hours to reach Nyeri we then proceeded to Kenya Wildlife Services headquarter to pay the entry fee. We followed the track that bisects the park through the lower slopes upto the moorlands to connect with the road from Naivasha on the western side of the park. The parks scenery was absolutely stunning with majestic peaks, tall cliffs, moorland and spectacular waterfalls like Chania and Karuru. The Aberdare hills reminded me of the movie Jurassic park except instead of dinosaurs we had buffalos and elephants.
During the afternoon game drive we saw the black rhino, baboons, reedbucks, waterbucks, black and white colobus monkeys, jacksons francolin, hawks, eagles, african cape buffalos and herd of elephants .In the evening we pitched our tents enjoying view of some bushbucks grazing near our tents. At night under the cover of countless stars, we had a bonfire around our tents as we narrated the day’s events. The feeling of the morning dew around was amazing as we each breathed in the crisp clean air. In the afternoon, we headed back to Nairobi via Naivasha.
